⚙️Troubleshooting
🐢 My kiosk is lagging or running slow. What should I do?
f your kiosk is lagging or responding slowly, it is often related to the internet connection or WiFi signal strength.
Start by checking the kiosk’s connection. If the kiosk is showing a weak, fair, or limited connection, try moving it closer to the router and test again.
A few things to check:
- Make sure the kiosk is connected to a stable WiFi network.
- Check if the kiosk is showing a limited connection or weak signal.
- Move the kiosk closer to the router to see if performance improves.
- Test whether other devices on the same network are also slow.
- Restart the kiosk after checking the connection.
🧐 My kiosk is showing a black screen. What should I do?
A black screen can sometimes happen after a power outage, WiFi drop-out, or network interruption.
This usually means the kiosk has turned back on before the router or WiFi connection is fully ready. In some cases, the kiosk may keep waiting for the network connection and stay on a black screen, even after the internet comes back online.
To fix this, restart the kiosk device.
❓How do I reset my kiosk ?
To reset your kiosk, the steps depend on whether the kiosk is currently connected to WiFi.
If your kiosk is not connected to WiFi:
- Tap the top-left corner twice.
- Tap the bottom-right corner twice.
- This will open the kiosk settings.
- Connect the kiosk to WiFi.
- Follow the steps in the kiosk setup guide
If your kiosk is already connected to WiFi:
- Keep tapping the top-left corner until the kiosk PIN code screen appears.
- Enter the kiosk PIN.
- Follow the reset instructions from there: Setup guide
The Stripe pairing code is separate from the kiosk reset process. To find the Stripe pairing code, swipe right from the left side of the terminal screen, open Settings, and locate the pairing code.

💳 Payments & Terminals
🤦♂️ Why isn’t my kiosk EFTPOS terminal connecting?
If your kiosk payment terminal is not connecting, first check that the kiosk and terminal are connected to the same WiFi network.
The terminal and kiosk need to be on the same network so they can communicate with each other.
Start by checking:
- The kiosk is connected to WiFi.
- The Stripe terminal is connected to WiFi.
- Both devices are connected to the same WiFi network name.
- The internet connection is stable.
- The terminal has not dropped onto another network.
- The router or modem is turned on and working.
If you are using a 4G or 5G modem, connection issues can sometimes happen depending on signal strength or network setup.
You can also check the Stripe terminal diagnostics:
- On the Stripe terminal, swipe right.
- Tap Settings.
- Enter the code 07139.
- Tap Advanced.
- Tap Diagnostics.
- Scroll down and check:
- DNS Resolution
- Stripe connectivity
- Terminal events connectivity
These should all show as Passed.
If the diagnostics pass but the terminal still is not connecting, restart the terminal by powering it off and back on.
You may also need to check the kiosk network settings:
- On the kiosk screen, double-tap the top-left corner, then double-tap the bottom-right corner.
- Enter the kiosk PIN.
- Select the current WiFi network.
- Check the network details, including:
- IP address
- Gateway
- Subnet mask
The IP address, gateway, subnet, and network prefix may vary depending on your venue’s network.
However, the DNS settings should be:
- DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
- DNS 2: 8.8.4.4
If you are unsure, please contact Bopple Support before changing these settings. Include your store name, internet type, whether you use NBN, 4G, or 5G, and a photo of the Stripe terminal diagnostics screen.
👀 Do I need to check the kiosk payment terminal for tampering?
Yes. As part of keeping payment devices secure, venues should perform periodic checks of their kiosk payment terminal.
This helps ensure the terminal has not been tampered with, damaged, or had any unauthorised device attached to it, such as a card skimming device.
We recommend regularly checking that:
- The terminal looks the same as usual
- There are no loose, extra, or unusual attachments
- The card reader area has not been blocked, damaged, or modified
- The terminal has not been swapped with another device
- Staff know what the terminal should normally look like
If anything looks unusual, stop using the terminal and contact Bopple Support before taking more payments through the kiosk.
