[Stripe Upgrade] Activating your new payout account

In this guide we walk you through the process of moving to our upgraded Stripe platform for payouts and payments.

What the activation process looks like

We've made the process easy by pre-filling the activation form with most of the required details from your existing Stripe account. This includes: 

✅ Pre-filled business name, address and website

✅ Pre-filled business type and company structure

✅ Pre-filled owner, director and executive info

Activate your new payout account

Follow the process below to activate your new payout account in Bopple. 

Step-by-step

The Stripe activation form is very intuitive and will mostly be pre-filled for you, but we've provided a guide below. 

  1. Login to Bopple Back Office
  2. If you have multiple stores, navigate to the store you are setting up 
  3. Go to Store Settings ➜ Payouts ➜ click Activate on the Stripe section
  4. Select + Activate new account and click Continue
  5. Next you'll be taken into a Stripe activation form, which will be mostly pre-filled for you. 
  6. Provide your preferred email address and verify your access.
  7. Work through the activation form confirming details as needed.  
  8. On the Review and submit step, make sure there aren't any items flagged as "Incomplete". If there are, click Edit and provide any requested details. 
  9. Click Submit
  10. You'll be taken into Bopple Back Office where you should see your new payout account is activated. If it is flagged as "Activation incomplete" click Activate again and you'll be guided to fill-in any details you missed.

Do I need to enter all my business details?

Good news – we'll pre-fill the activation form with most of the details required, including business info and the details of any owners, executives and directors. This info is pulled across from your Stripe account on the legacy platform. 

I run multiple stores. Do I need to do this on every store?

Each store needs to be moved to the upgraded Stripe platform. Once you activate a new payout account on a store, you can assign that payout account on other stores if you are happy to have payouts going to the same bank account. Alternatively, activate a new payout account for each store and you'll receive separate payouts.

What email address should I use on the first step of activation?

Use your preferred email address, even if you have used it as the login for an existing Stripe account. Stripe will guide you to authenticate in the next step of the activation flow. See below if you need help using your existing Stripe login during activation.

Can I use my existing Stripe login when activating my new account?

Absolutely. When you click Activate in Bopple Back Office, you'll be asked to provide your preferred email in the first screen of the activation flow. If you already use this email for an existing Stripe login, you'll next be asked to provide your password and verify by SMS or authenticator code. Follow the prompts to do this, and your new account will be linked with any other accounts you access with that email.

Stripe is asking me for a password. Why? 

During activation, you provided an email address that is already used as a Stripe login (for another Stripe account). Stripe needs you to provide your password so that your new account can be linked with your existing login. If you need to reset your Stripe password, go to ➜ dashboard.stripe.com/reset

I'm not able to receive SMS verification codes. What do I do?

If you no longer have access to the phone number on your Stripe profile, you can temporarily disable two-step authentication to recover your account via dashboard.stripe.com/recover (only account owners can do this). 

If you're unable to recover your Stripe profile, please contact us – we will reset your activation in Back Office so you can start again with a different email address. 

Stripe is asking me for a code from an authenticator app. Why?

You're using an existing Stripe profile with two-factor authentication via an authenticator app has been set up previously (Stripe encourages this as it is more secure). You will need to enter the code from your authenticator to continue. See below if you're having trouble with your authenticator code. 

I can't get an authenticator code, or the code isn't working. What do I do?

If you no longer have access to the device setup with the authenticator app for your Stripe profile, you can temporarily disable two-step authentication to recover your account via dashboard.stripe.com/recover (only account owners can do this). 

If you're unable to recover your Stripe profile, please contact us – we will reset your activation in Back Office so you can start again with a different email address. 

How soon will my new payout account be used?

For most stores, your new payout account will be used as soon as you complete activation and verification. Some stores may continue using the legacy account for payouts for a short time - this will be communicated during activation. 

Can I still access my old Stripe account?

You can always access the Stripe accounts you previously used for Bopple by signing in to Stripe directly at dashboard.stripe.com with the correct login details.
