πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ General info

What is happening and what do I need to do?

Bopple is investing in a significant upgrade to it’s payments and payouts infrastructure, powered by Stripe. You will need to need to activate your payout account to ensure you keep receiving timely payouts direct to your preferred bank account.

Why is this happening?

Bopple has been serving hospitality businesses since 2019. We have maintained and improved our integration with Stripe over the years, however we’re now investing in a more significant upgrade which will:

  • Pave the way for new features like partial refunds, faster payouts and more
  • Unlock the latest improvements in security and fraud prevention from Stripe
  • Simplify the way you manage payments and payouts in Bopple

What will this cost?

This is a completely free upgrade with no changes to fees.

Did you know you can pass Stripe processing costs on as a 'Card Fee' on customer orders. Learn more ➜ Add a card fee to online orders

Can I just keep using the Stripe account I’ve always used?

To ensure you can access all the latest improvements and features, you will need to activate and verify a payout account on our new, upgraded Stripe platform. When activating, you can use your existing Stripe login details to link your accounts.

Will I still get paid into my bank account?

Absolutely. You'll be able to confirm your preferred bank account during activation.

Will this change how quickly I receive payouts?

This upgrade paves the way for faster payout speeds (time from payment to payout), so stay tuned. For now, you'll continue to receive daily payouts of your available balance in Stripe. Businesses in Australia will continue with Stripe's 2 day payout speed, which now also applies to businesses in New Zealand (previously 4 days). For other regions, see ➜ Stripe Support: Payout speeds by country

What happens if I do not activate a new payout account by the due date?

All payouts through the legacy Stripe platform will be paused on November 30, 2024. If you have not completed the update by this date, your store will still be able to process payments but you won't receive payouts until you activate a new payout account.

βœ… Activate a new payout account

How do I activate a new payout account?

To get started, sign-in to Bopple Back Office and navigate to your store. You will see prompts guiding you to complete this via Store settings ➜ Payouts

For a video and guide, see ➜ Activating payouts with Stripe

What email address should I use on the first step of activation?

Simply use your preferred email address, even if you have used it as the login for an existing Stripe account. Stripe will guide you to authenticate in the next step of the activation flow. If you need help using your existing login during activation, we've provided some info further down this page.

Do I need to enter all my business details?

Good news – we'll pre-fill the activation form with most of the details required, including business info and the details of any owners, executives and directors. This info is pulled across from your Stripe account on the legacy platform. You may still need to provide a few pieces of info to complete activation.

I run multiple stores. Do I need to do this on every store?

Each store does need to be moved to the upgraded Stripe platform. Once you activate a new payout account on a store, you can assign that payout account on other stores if you are happy to have payouts going to the same bank account. If you need funds paid out to different bank accounts for each store, activate a new payout account for each.

For more info on multi-store setup, see ➜ Payout accounts for multi-store operators

How soon will my new payout account be used?

For most stores, your new payout account will be used as soon as you complete activation and verification. Some stores may continue using the legacy account for payouts for a short time - this will be communicated during activation.

Can I still access my old Stripe account?

You can always access the Stripe accounts you previously used for Bopple by signing in to Stripe directly at dashboard.stripe.com with the correct login details.

πŸ”‘ Using an existing Stripe login to activate

Can I use my existing Stripe login when activating my new account?

Absolutely. When you click Activate in Bopple Back Office, you'll be asked to provide your preferred email in the first screen of the activation flow. If you already use this email for an existing Stripe login, you'll next be asked to provide your password and verify by SMS or authenticator code. Follow the prompts to do this, and your new account will be linked with any other accounts you access with that email.

Stripe is asking me for a password. Why?

During activation, you provided an email address that is already used as a Stripe login (for another Stripe account). Stripe needs you to provide your password so that your new account can be linked with your existing login. If you need to reset your Stripe password, go to ➜ dashboard.stripe.com/reset

Stripe is asking me for a code from an authenticator app. Why?

Similar to the above, this means you are using an existing Stripe login to activate your new account via Bopple. On your existing Stripe login, you have setup an authenticator app for extra security. You will need to enter the code from your authenticator to continue. See below if you're having trouble with your authenticator code.

My authenticator app code isn't working. What do I do?

Make sure you are using a code from the correct Stripe account stored in your authenticator app. If you are the account owner, you can temporarily disable two-step authentication to recover your account by visiting dashboard.stripe.com/recover
