# Introduction to Discounts

## Discounts are a great way to incentivise customers to spend in your store, whether it's increasing revenue or average order value, or driving repeat business. See our guide below how to set these up

**🏪 Multi Site Operators:** Setup Discounts on the **Company Level** for all stores to have access. Discounts configured on the **Store Level** will be restricted to that store.

To create a discount or promo code, go to:

- **[Bopple Back Office](https://my.bopple.com/back-office/stores/0/settings/integrations) ➜ Discounts**
- Click **+ Create promo code**
- Select your **Discount Type** (see below for an explanation)
- Enter **Description** and **Name**
- Choose **Percentage** or **Fixed amount**

You can create the following types of discounts:

- **Order Discount:** Applied to the entire order
- **Product Discount:** Applied to specific products or categories
- **Delivery Discount:** Applied to the delivery fee
- **Credit Voucher:** Offer a fixed credit value (useful for compensation)

Customers can redeem discounts on checkout by entering the code on checkout

### Benefits of providing discounts

- **Customer Acquisition:** Incentivise first time users to place an order, reducing any initial barrier to purchase
- **Increased Order Frequency & Revenue:** Encourage repeat purchases from customers
- **Higher Average Order Value:** Minimum spend discounts prompt customers to spend more to unlock the promotion

### How can discounts be restricted?

Discount restrictions allow for control over how you apply your discounts. Combine these restriction to further control how customer may use their discount code.

See the example below - *Free Pizza for your first order in April (min spend $40, Pickup only)*

A full list of restrictions can be found below.

**Product restrictions**   
*Only applicable when Product Discount is selected*

- **Selected products or categories**  
  *Discounts can be restricted to specific products or categories (i.e. 10% off Pizza)*
- **Only apply once per order**  
  *If selected, discount will only apply to one item on the order. It won't be applied to every matching item*
- **Only apply to base price**  
  *If selected, any modifiers (i.e. Soy Milk) will not be discounted.*

**Purchase Requirements**

- **Minimum order amount**
- **Maximum order amount (contact Bopple for access)**

**Order types**

- **Order types**   
  Restrict discount to Pick-up, Delivery or Dine-in

**Customers**

- **Customer account required**  
  Customers must be logged in to claim the discount
- **Limit to specific customer (contact Bopple for access)**  
  Restrict a discount code to a specific customer profile

**Usage limits**

- **Limit total number (#) of uses**
- **Limit total value ($) of all uses**
- **Limit value ($) per customer**
- **Limit number of uses (#) per customer**
- **Reset count and value limits (contact Bopple for access)**

**Date range**

- **Start/end date**
- **Specific Day/Time (contact Bopple for access)***Restrict a discount to a specific day and/or time (i.e. Monday before 11am)*
