👥 Choosing Who to Send Your Notification To

When sending a push notification, you can choose to send it to all app users or target specific groups based on their activity or store preference.

You can filter your audience by:

  • Store: Send to customers of all stores, or target customers who have ordered from a specific location – perfect for store-level promos.

  • Purchase behaviour: Target customers who have ordered or have NOT ordered within the last month / 3 months / 6 months / 12 months.

These simple filters give you a great starting point for:

  • Promoting store-specific offers

  • Re-engaging lapsed customers

  • Driving increased order frequency with engaged customers

Targeted messages tend to perform better — and feel more relevant to the people receiving them.

🎯 Best Practices for Push Notifications

Here are a few tips to get the most out of your pushes:

  • Keep it short and punchy – Aim for under 130 characters.

  • Use action-oriented language – Encourage quick decisions (e.g., “Order now!”).

  • Use emojis to grab attention  But not too many. 1 or 2 max per message is good.
  • Create urgency – Add a time limit (“Ends tonight!”).

  • Use your brand voice – Keep it interesting and aligned with your brand.

  • Don’t send messages on consecutive days – Limit to 2–3 notifications per week.

  • Don’t be vague – “Check out our app!” isn’t enough and will drive uninstalls.

  • Don’t send too early or late in the day – Timing is key.

  • Don’t overuse all caps or emojis – Keep it professional and easy to read.

⚠️ Sender beware ⚠️

Vague or low-value notifications can feel spammy, turn customers off, and even lead to app uninstalls — ultimately hurting your brand.
