      Structuring and importing your menu with Square

      Learn how to structure your menu with the Bopple x Square integration. You can find out how to re-arrange products, categories, and more.

      Square Integration has recently been improved!

      We made some changes to the Square integration for new connections that removes the Bopple Show Online custom attribute.  This will import all items in Square, and allow you to manage visibility directly in Bopple Back Office - allowing for greater flexibility.

      If you are unsure whether you are using the new or old menu sync, navigate to Back Office ➞ Store Settings ➞ Integrations ➞ Square ➞ Configure. Disable the Only import items set to 'show online' if you wish to use the new menu sync. 

      If you don't see this option, then you are using the new menu sync.

      Step 1: Get your Square menu ready for online use

      When you connect Square, your existing Bopple menu setup will be discarded and replaced by the Square menu that is imported. To avoid interruptions to service, make sure your Square menu is well setup before proceeding. 

      In your Square Item Library, you will need to: 

      1. Create Items for all products you want to display in your Bopple online menu
      2. Ensure all Items are added to a Category and are available at your location
      3. Use Item Variations for any Items that you sell in different sizes
      4. Add Modifier Sets for any add-ons, customisations or upsells on your Items
      5. Add Images and Descriptions to Items so your menu is visually appealing to customers

      Step 2: Import your Square menu into Bopple

      After you've created your products in Square, you can import these directly into Bopple by following the below steps

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Products
      2. Click Import menu

       

      Step 3: Arrange your menu for customer display

      After importing your items, you may need to hide or sort your categories, products or modifiers.

      Hiding Categories

      If you have multiple locations, hiding Categories in the Square integration must be done on the Company level and will be applied to all locations.

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Categories
      2. Select your Category
      3. Toggle Visible in menu ➞ Update

      After toggling the visibility, the category will move into the Hidden status. Follow the same steps to make it available again.

       

      Hiding Products

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Products
      2. Click your Product
      3. Toggle Visible in menu ➞ Update

      You can mark multiple products in bulk as unavailable by:

      1. Select the checkbox next to each Product
      2. Bulk edit ➞ Toggle Visibility
      3. Ensure Visible in menu is off ➞ Update

      After toggling the visibility, the Product will move into the Hidden status. Follow the same steps to make it available again.

       

      Hiding Modifiers or Modifier Groups

      Currently it isn't possible to hide modifiers or modifier groups using the Square integration. These will need to be removed as an option on your POS.

       

      Sorting Categories

      Sorting categories at one store will apply to all stores.

      Firstly, we'll need to assign Categories to a Group (Food/Drinks/Misc). By default, all categories will be imported as Misc.

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Categories
      2. Select Category
      3. Choose a Group

      After you've assigned your Categories to a Group, you can sort them.

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Categories
      2. Drag and drop the sort icon to arrange your category structure

      You can choose which categories displays first by following this guide.

       

      Sorting Products

      The order of Products can be sorted in Square:

      1. Square Dashboard ➞ Items & orders ➞ Categories
      2. Select your Category
      3. Scroll down to Items and select Rearrange ➞ Done
      4. Press Save
      5. Import your menu by following Step 2: Import your Square menu into Bopple 

       

      Sorting Modifiers

      Modifier sets and modifiers can be arranged directly in Bopple.

      Modifier Sets (also known as Modifier Groups)

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Modifiers
      2. Drag and drop the sort icon to arrange your modifier sets

      Modifiers (also known as Modifier Groups)

      1. Bopple Back Office ➞ Menu ➞ Modifiers
      2. Select your Modifier Set
      3. Drag and drop the sort icon to arrange your modifiers
      4. Press Update

      Dynamic menus by order type
